Metabolism
& Eating habits
Most
people in certain time of their life want to lost some weight.
There are many ways to lose weight, some are easy some are not. Some
are costly and some are FREE.
One good way of reducing weight which I personally find it effective
but tedious is to increase Metabolism rate of our body.
What is metabolism rate? How does metabolism works?
Metabolism actually 'control' whether to burn fats in our body for
energy or to store fat in our body to use later.
The main source of energy our body get is from Glucose (know
commonly as blood sugar). When our blood sugar runs low, it will
burn the fats in our body to create energy. But when our blood sugar
is high, metabolism will then store fats in our body to be use
later.
So the next question is how to get metabolism to work for the better
for our body?
EAT! Many people believe that by stop eating, you will lose weight.
And they are right for a short time only. When you stop eating your
metabolism will slow down because it sense that you do not have
enough food. But when you start to eat, your blood sugar will jump
sky high. Your metabolism will then store the extra blood sugar as
fats.
The most important meal of the day is actually BREAKFAST! By taking
breakfast will actually improve metabolism rate (surprise to many
people). This should be done as soon as you have woke up or before
you leave house for work every morning. This is just like starting
your body engine in the morning. Your body sense that there is food,
and metabolism rate actually increase at the start of the day.
Eat, but moderate eating. Eat smaller portion of meals but more
meals than usual. This will keep your metabolism rate high as it
sense that your body actually have constant supply of food. And of
cause selection of food is very important. Eat right and eat light!
Eat more vegetable. Raw vegetables are good. Avoid the dressing, and
if you find it difficult to eat totally without any dressing, start
slowly. By reducing the dressing by 30%-40% or half for a week. And
try to reduce as weeks passes by, this will be a much easier way of
changing your diet slowly. Drastic change such as immediately avoid
all dressing will usually back fired. People tends to give up more
easily if it is too difficult.
I am not a doctor, I am writing base on my on experience. Some of
the information here I got are from my talks with my dietician,
because I use to be overweight.
Start right, be patient and have determination.
